We are thrilled to announce that the Moose & Squirrel Medical Clinic has been recognized as Alberta’s Outstanding Family Practice for 2017 by the Alberta College of Family Physicians! When we decided to open our clinic in Sundre four years ago, we had a dream of creating a medical practice built around teamwork; where every member of the team was focused on the goal of providing the best possible patient care to our community. We believed in making our clinic into a “medical home” where we did our best every day to treat every patient the way we would like our own family to be treated. We devoted ourselves to creating a family medicine clinic that would be recognized and emulated as a model for excellence in providing outstanding primary medical care and promoting good health for all. We might have done things a little differently than the way they had been done before, we haven’t been perfect, and we have made some changes along the way, but every decision we have made during this journey has been centred on providing our patients with the best care and experience that we could provide.
Our vision was simple: to become known as Alberta’s leading rural family medicine clinic. We wanted to put our community on the map, so that when people who make decisions in health care talked about the best family practices in the province, Sundre would be on that list. It has been a lot of hard work, but it has been a labour of love on behalf of our community by everyone we work beside. We are incredibly honoured that our patients nominated us for this award – in the first year it has ever been offered by the ACFP – and incredibly proud of our amazing team for believing in the medical home ideal and working so hard on behalf of our patients day in and day out.
